History, Culture, and Architecture, Depicted in Lines and Threads

Suzhou Museum, designed by world famous architect Ieoh Ming Pei, is located in the historic quarter of the city of Suzhou, adjoining a few ancient Chinese courtyards and gardens including a UNESCO World Heritage site. The design of this museum visually complements the area, with its basic elements taken from the rich vocabulary of Suzhou’s traditional architecture: whitewashed plaster walls, dark grey clay tile roofs and intricate garden architecture.

Souvenir socks, delicately fabricated in jacquard cotton knitting, depict the outline of the museum in lines and threads, where all the elements of the museum architecture can be immediately recognized.
